Program Description

About This Program

Do you want to be someone your friends can come to for support? Do you want to know more about mental health so that you can care for yourself more effectively? Sign up for Youth Mental Health Peer Support Training!

There are 9 total 1 hour sessions for this program, which will cover various aspects of mental health and support strategies. The sessions are listed below:

1. Orientation

2. Ethics, Assumptions and Labels

3. Setting the Stage for Helping

4. Helping as a Process

5. You can Help Yourself Too

6. Boundaries and What to Do About Them

7. Mental Health Awareness

8. Understanding Suicide

9. How to Respond in a Crisis

Attending all 9 sessions is not mandatory, but those do will receive a certificate from Alberta Health Services showing their completion of the course.
